SharedNest (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the SharedNest co-parenting calendar platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (or OAuth credentials if you sign in with Google).

Family & Child Data: Custody schedules, child profiles (names, birth dates, school information), calendar events, messages between co-parents, expense records, documents, and incident reports.

Usage Data: We collect analytics data such as pages visited, features used, and session duration to improve our service. This data is collected via PostHog and is anonymized unless you are logged in.

Payment Information: Billing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. We retain your Stripe customer ID to manage your subscription.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the SharedNest platform
  • Facilitate shared custody scheduling between co-parents
  • Generate court-ready PDF documentation at your request
  • Send transactional emails (invites, swap requests, notifications)
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Improve the platform through anonymized usage analytics
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Your co-parent: Calendar events, messages, and shared family data are visible to both parents in your family.
  • Attorneys/professionals: Only when you explicitly grant access through the Attorney Access feature.
  • Service providers: Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Vercel (hosting), PostHog (analytics), Sentry (error monitoring).
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.

5. Data Retention

Calendar events, messages, and audit trail records are retained for as long as your account is active, as they may serve as legal documentation. You may request account deletion at any time — we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use analytics cookies (PostHog) to understand how the platform is used. You can decline non-essential cookies via the cookie consent banner.

7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt out of non-essential analytics tracking

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security on our database, and secure authentication via Supabase Auth. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

9. Children’s Privacy

SharedNest is designed for use by parents and legal guardians. Children do not create accounts or directly use the platform. Child profile data (names, birth dates) is entered and managed by parents.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notification.
